It is an understatement to suggest that other nations often view the United States differently than we do ourselves.  This fact is particularly true today as there is no international consensus relative to many international issues.  Although many of you may not agree with those other points of view, as students and citizens of the world, our time might be well-spent becoming familiar with how others understand the issues of the day.

 The World Press Review Online is not only a digest of world press clippings, it is a portal to international information resources, and it is a featured website. Its homepage features “In the Spotlight,” a collection of excerpted articles and analysis of news stories from around the world.  You may also select the link “World Headlines” to access a regularly updated headline service or links under the menu heading, “Features.”   Of those links, “Think-Tanks/NGO’s” may be particularly helpful to those looking for original research.  Other notable links under this heading are “World Newspapers and Magazine” and “Opinions.”

  The Web Wrap for 8/26/2022 As a student, I grew up in a print world where a research paper meant trips across campus to the college library, sometimes while enduring Minnesota winter.  Books were the primary resource; searching for journal articles meant thumbing through print indexes, and journals stayed in the library (typically in a basement) bound and quite heavy to carry. Bad Sources = Bad Information

 We live in a time where it is very easy for anyone to share their ideas and opinions on absolutely anything. Our deep educational experiences have ingrained in us the thought that if we read something in the open media, then it must have credibility because it is "published." However, being accessible and being published are very different things and in today's information bonanza, neither equates to credible. There has been a lot of bas information in the media lately, and I'm not speaking about national news sources. I'm referring to the increased amount of personal news reporting that we see on social media and click bait news.
